Husband says he was stabbed by wife after argument over supporting England; woman quotes jealousy

Fight between couple over fans between England and Argentina ends with knife attacks in Itapira Disclosure/Guarda Civil Municipal de Campinas A man, aged 50, claimed to have been stabbed by his partner, aged 45, after an argument about football in Itapira (SP), on Thursday night (16). He told the Municipal Guard that the fight happened because he supported the England team, while his wife supported Argentina. The woman, however, told the Civil Police that the fight was caused by jealousy. The case occurred in the Vila Pereira neighborhood. The man stated that, after the argument, he slept on the sofa and woke up being attacked by his partner. Her son, who lives in the backyard, restrained his mother and called the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu). The man was taken to Itapira Municipal Hospital with head injuries. After the service, the Municipal Guard went to the residence and found the woman sleeping. She confessed that she stabbed her partner, but said she acted without thinking and stopped the attack when her son said he would call the police. Due to discrepancies in the reports, the Civil Police reported that the woman was interviewed at the police station and released.
