Resumption of the renovation of the Emergency Room of Governador Valadares is authorized The city hall of Governador Valadares announced, on the morning of this Wednesday (8), the resumption of the renovation works of the Emergency Room of the Municipal Hospital. The work order was signed by Mayor José Bonifácio Mourão (PL) and work should restart this Thursday (9). The reported investment is R$600 million. Works had been halted since October 15 last year. "The situation is extremely difficult. Therefore, health is our administration's number one priority. The resumption of these works represents new hope for the population," he said. According to the Municipal Health Department, the project envisages expanding the unit's structure. Improvements are planned, such as increasing the emergency room and back area, creating new observation rooms to reduce patients in corridors, expanding offices, reception and waiting rooms, in addition to adapting bathrooms, including accessibility for people with disabilities. The city hall was also questioned about the current situation of the hospital, the number of professionals and the supply of medicines. The municipal secretary of Health reported that there are occasional shortages of some medicines in the municipal network, but that the municipality has carried out emergency purchases to regularize the supply. A medication acquisition process is underway and is scheduled for judgment on July 15th. The administration also informed that it is carrying out a review of the unit's staff.
