Plane that crashed in Vinhedo Reproduction/TV Globo Two years after the crash of Voepass flight 2283, which killed 62 people in Vinhedo (SP), globoplay premieres the documentary series "Voepass 2283 – The Fall" this Thursday (7). In three episodes, Jornalismo da Globo produced new images and artificial intelligence resources to reconstruct the moments that preceded one of the country's biggest recent air tragedies. In an exclusive testimony, former Voepass flight attendant, Eloá Belarmino, detailed the aircraft failures routinely faced by employees. "Even people said it was flying junk. We used to say that we just didn't know the day, the time, who it was, which plane it was. Because it was Russian roulette," he said. ? The accident happened on August 9, 2024. The ATR 72-500, registration PS-VPB, was flying between Cascavel (PR) and Guarulhos International Airport (SP) when it crashed in the backyard of a house in a condominium in Vinhedo. It was the most serious Brazilian aviation accident since the TAM flight disaster in 2007. The production of the documentary took place while the case was still in development and followed the final stretch of the investigations. The premiere takes place one day after the Federal Police released the conclusions of the criminal investigation, which identified 16 people responsible for the plane crash. "There was very strong journalistic work behind it, building sources and everything, so that it really covered all sides of the story", said director Thiago Guimarães. Exclusive content The series features records never shown publicly, including images of the aircraft shortly before takeoff in Cascavel (PR) and scenes of the work of firefighters and experts at the crash site, in Vinhedo. The production also presents a detailed reconstruction of the flight, created from real images captured in an ATR simulator in Europe and sequences produced with artificial intelligence to reproduce external scenes of the aircraft. According to Guimarães, the team traveled to Austria to record on an ATR model simulator, as there was no equipment available for this type of production in Brazil. "All the images of the cabin, button, alarm that lights up, everything there was done on an ATR simulator. We went to Austria because there are no simulators available here for recording in Brazil", explained the director. The plane's exterior scenes were created with artificial intelligence and went through an extensive post-production process to ensure technical fidelity. "It was really exhausting, detailed work, composing the images to put the right light, the green light on this side, the red light on this side, so that we could achieve a realistic effect", said Guimarães. In addition to the investigation, the Federal Police presents the conclusion of the investigation into the Voepass plane crash in Vinhedo, SP Gabriella Ramos/g1 The series goes beyond the technical aspects and follows the mobilization of the victims' families over the two years following the tragedy. According to Guimarães, during production it became clear that the central story was not only that of the investigation, but also that of the search for answers and accountability. "The best story to be told was, in fact, the story of families' mobilization for justice," said the director. The production followed the activities of the association of victims' families, recording meetings, demands from the authorities and expectations for the progress of the investigations. "The documentary manages to monitor this work. You follow the movement of these people who were destroyed and begin to mobilize in a search for justice", he stated. For the director, this human dimension helps explain the lasting impact of the tragedy. "Deep down, the mobilization of these people was also a way for them to stay alive. How do you deal with a tragedy? Where do you find the strength to continue living?", he reflected. “Voepass 2283 – A Queda” is directed by Thiago Guimarães and Clarissa Cavalcanti, executive produced by Fatima Baptista, script by Andrey Frasson, Erik Von Poser, Tarso Araújo, Thiago Guimarães and produced by Stephanie Lotufo.
