According to her, the property often receives wild animals as it is heavily wooded. "This hawk probably found a dead mouse in the trap and went to try to feed. The glue stuck to him. He even managed to land on a guava tree, but he must have lost his balance and fell to the ground," she said. Nicole also said that her mother carefully removed the glue plate from the animal. She would have used almond oil to loosen the adhesive. According to the resident, the process to rescue took about an hour. She explained that she first contacted the Fire Department, who advised the family to contact GCM Ambiental. The rescued bird was evaluated by a veterinarian and is in good health. GCM Ambiental said, in a statement, that the animal had traces of glue on its feathers at the time of rescue, but the expectation is that, after the necessary care, it can be returned to the wild. ? The agents identified the bird as a Carijó hawk (Rupornis magnirostris), a common species in the Atlantic Forest and also found in wooded urban areas. Bird fell in the fall and remained in the residence for almost an hour. Personal Archive/Nicole Brito As she was at work, Nicole monitored the situation by phone while her brother and parents remained with the bird. "We always take care with animals that appear in the yard. In addition to dogs, there are people who can hurt them unintentionally or even through lack of awareness. Our concern was to return this animal to nature in the best possible way" Guidance from GCM According to environmental agent Valter Santos, although the resident's attitude was correct in worrying about the bird, the safest procedure is to call a specialized team, since even weakened animals can react out of defense instinct. The recommendation is even more important in cases involving snakes, when rescue must be carried out using appropriate techniques and protective equipment. In similar situations, the population can contact the corporation by calling 153. The animal was calm and was collected without any complications.
