The suspect is being investigated for involvement in a completed homicide and an attempted homicide that occurred in the municipality of Itinga do Maranhão, 615 km from São Luís. According to the Civil Police, the first arrest warrant was served so that the man could begin serving a sentence of more than 13 years in prison, in a closed regime, after a definitive conviction for drug trafficking and association for drug trafficking. The crimes occurred in the early hours of August 6, 2025, in the São Sebastião neighborhood, in Itinga do Maranhão. After the crimes, teams from the Itinga do Maranhão Police Station carried out efforts to locate the person being investigated. After months of integrated work between civil police officers from the unit and the Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station (DHPP) of Açailândia, it was possible to identify the whereabouts of the fugitive, who was hidden in a kitnet located in the central region of Açailândia. On Friday (24), Civil Police teams, with support from the Tactical Force of the 26th Military Police Battalion, located the person being investigated and executed the two court warrants. Investigations also showed that the prisoner held a leadership position in a criminal organization operating in the municipality. After his capture, the man was presented to the Açailândia Civil Police Central Station to carry out legal procedures and was then sent to the city's Prison Resocialization Unit, where he will remain at the disposal of the Justice Department. Understand the case The Civil Police and the Military Police arrested, on August 12, 2025, two men suspected of involvement in the murder of Bruna da Conceição Alves, which occurred on August 6 in Itinga do Maranhão, approximately 620 km from São Luís. At the time, Bruna's companion was also shot, but survived after receiving medical attention. According to the police, those arrested were the perpetrators of the crime. One of them already had a definitive arrest warrant to serve a 12-year sentence for qualified homicide, committed in 2023, also in Itinga. The arrests occurred during an operation that carried out judicial arrest warrants and house searches against members of a criminal organization investigated for homicides and attempted homicides in the region. In the home of one of the suspects, police found a .38 caliber revolver, .40 caliber ammunition, 35 grams of cocaine, precision scales, plastic bags for packaging drugs and a cell phone. The man was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm, possession of restricted ammunition and drug trafficking. After the procedures at the city police station, the detainees were taken to the Açailândia Prison Resocialization Unit, where they remain at the disposal of the courts.
