Operation against group that offered false documents and illegal refunds arrests suspects in the interior of SP Disclosure/Civil Police Five men were arrested this Tuesday (7) during an operation by the General Investigations Office (DIG) of Americana (SP) against a criminal group that offered false documents and illegal refunds of purchases made with cards. The operation, called “Chargeback”, took place in Americana, Cosmópolis (SP) and Artur Nogueira (SP). Of those detained, one was located in Artur Nogueira and four in Cosmópolis. According to the DIG, to move the money, the suspects used third-party Pix accounts and keys, splitting the amounts and making it difficult to track illicit transactions — understand below. The frauds may have had a national reach. Cell phones, documents, digital files, notes with names and CPFs, as well as cash were seized. The prisoners were taken to the Public Prison of Sumaré (SP) and will undergo a custody hearing. What was the modus operandi? The scheme worked in an organized way: the suspects offered false documents over the internet — such as medical certificates, diplomas, school transcripts and certificates — and also fraudulent chargeback services, that is, illegal refunds of purchases made with bank cards. According to the Civil Police, to move the money obtained, they used third-party Pix accounts and keys, dividing the amounts to make tracking difficult. According to the Civil Police, the investigation began after the identification of irregularities in banking transactions and the fraudulent use of chargebacks, mainly involving the financial institution Nubank. g1 contacted Nubank, but did not receive a response until the last update of this article.
