Five members of a criminal faction are arrested during an operation in Nina Rodrigues Reproduction/PCMA A joint operation by the Civil Police of Maranhão (PC-MA) and the Military Police of Maranhão (PM-MA), called “Operation Balaios”, carried out on Thursday (23), resulted in the arrest in the act of five members of a criminal faction investigated for involvement in drug trafficking and criminal organization in the municipality of Nina Rodrigues, 112 km from São Luís. ? Click here and subscribe to the g1 Maranhão channel on WhatsApp The operation aimed to identify the activities of a criminal group responsible for drug trafficking in the city, in addition to pointing out the existence of armed members who had been intimidating residents and expanding the illegal drug trade to municipalities in the region. During the execution of the court warrants, the police teams seized more than a kilo of marijuana, portions of crack and cocaine, a precision scale, material used to package drugs, firearm ammunition, radio communicators, a drone, cell phones and other objects of interest to the investigations. In view of the evidence found, five people were arrested for the crimes of drug trafficking, association for drug trafficking, illegal possession of ammunition and tampering with a motor vehicle identification sign. Operation Balaios included the participation of teams from the Itapecuru-Mirim Regional Police Station, the 2nd Itapecuru-Mirim Police District, the Vargem Grande Police Station, the Miranda do Norte Police Station and the Maranhão Military Police Tactical Force.
