After hearing ten witnesses, the police indicted Antônio for triple homicide. The Public Prosecutor's Office also charged the child's mother, who is not in prison. The crime took place in a rented house the day before. The father, mother, victim and two brothers lived in the property. The police reported that the parents' statements presented contradictions. Antônio said he handed the child to his mother the night before and then slept. The mother stated that she did not sleep with her daughter and only woke up the next day, when the father said that the girl was dead. The mother reported that the man kicked the child in the thigh and said: “your daughter is dead”. Witnesses told the police that, on the day of the crime, Antônio said he did not know what had happened, but stated that it was not necessary to call for help because his daughter was already dead. He was interviewed on August 2, 2024. After that, he was no longer found by the police. The police concluded that the crime was motivated by discomfort caused by the child's crying. Neighbors said they saw Antônio with his daughter crying on his lap the night before. The report indicated that the child died from mechanical asphyxiation caused by direct suffocation and bronchoaspiration.
