Expedição Rio debuts this Saturday (11); see highlights from the new season The program "Expedição Rio" premieres its sixth season this Saturday (11) on TV Globo with nine new episodes that cover different regions of the state in search of landscapes, characters and stories little known to the public. Presented by journalists Alexandre Henderson and Daniella Dias, the program maintains the proposal of revealing the "Rio that Rio does not know", but expands the focus this season by also following professions that help to tell the identity and diversity of the state. Rio from above 'Expedição Rio' on the antennas of Sumaré TV Globo The premiere is dedicated to Rio seen from above. Between trails, viewpoints and adventure activities, Henderson and Daniella visit places such as Sumaré, Pedra da Tartaruga, in Guaratiba, and Alto do Gaia, in São Gonçalo. The episode also shows the work of professionals responsible for preserving the trees of the Tijuca Forest, visits a northeastern cuisine cafe in Santa Teresa and follows an aerial acrobatics class at Praia da Boa Viagem, in Niterói. Among the highlights are natural pools in Nova Iguaçu, a flower farm in Nova Friburgo, the routine of a beekeeper, the work of salt workers in São Pedro da Aldeia, sports in Arraial do Cabo and expeditions through the Restinga de Jurubatiba National Park. Ponta do Atalaia, in Arraial do Cabo Reproduction/TV Globo 'Sob o Rio' One of the episodes, entitled "Sob o Rio", explores little-known places in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, such as historic tunnels, caves, subway maintenance areas and a night paddle on Ilha do Governador. In the South of Rio de Janeiro, the programs pass through Visconde de Mauá and Volta Redonda, showing farms, waterfalls, bioconstruction initiatives and characters linked to the preservation of local traditions. In Norte Fluminense, the team follows the routine of a ship pilot at Porto do Açu and visits Sana to show activities such as rafting, trails and stories from residents of the region. Professions and gastronomy According to Daniella Dias, one of the new features of this season is the inclusion of experiences linked to professions and regional gastronomy. "In addition to the adventures and discovery of beautiful and little-known places, we will try out curious professions and experience gastronomic moments. We will discover restaurants with striking landscapes and stories linked to the territories where they are located", he states. Alexandre Henderson highlights one of the moments recorded in the Tijuca National Park, which turns 65 years old in 2026. "We are going to show the public that the grandeur of this natural wealth began with the work of 11 enslaved people — ten men and one woman — who later received the title of state heroes", says the presenter. He also followed the routine of an environmental monitor and climbed a large tree to see up close the work carried out in the park.
