Environmental Police identify two clandestine brickworks during inspections in Campos Two brickworks were identified operating irregularly during inspections by the Military Environmental Police in Campos dos Goytacazes, in the North of Rio de Janeiro. The actions took place on Wednesday (22), following complaints, and highlighted the lack of documentation necessary for the establishments to operate. At the scene, the owner informed the police that he did not have the necessary documentation to maintain the activity. During the inspection, the team also found an unauthorized artesian well and wood stored without an invoice. The second occurrence was recorded on Estrada São Bento, in Mussurepe, in the 5th district of Campos. The police found the brick kiln in operation. An employee reported that the person responsible for the establishment was not on site and, therefore, the documentation was not presented. The team also found that the brickworks did not have company identification or signs with information about the licensing of the activity. According to the Environmental Police, the two cases were forwarded to the Federal Police Station in Campos dos Goytacazes for appropriate measures. The occurrences were registered based on article 60 of the Environmental Crimes Law, which deals with the operation of potentially polluting activities without the required documentation.
