Diogo Moreira / Futura Press / Agência Estado The Court of Justice of São Paulo (TJ-SP) rejected the request from the defense of Lindemberg Alves, sentenced to 39 years in prison for the death of his ex-girlfriend, Eloá Pimentel, to reduce the length of his sentence in prison, in Potim, in the interior of São Paulo. In March of this year, Lindemberg's defense had asked the Court to request an 80-day reduction in his sentence for taking the National High School Exam (Enem) last year. At the time, the defense also mentioned that Lindemberg reached the average grade in four areas of knowledge in the 2025 Enem test. ? In the decision, judge Sueli Zeraik de Oliveira Armani recalled that, to pass the Enem, 450 is necessary in each of the areas of knowledge, in addition to a minimum grade in the essay of 500 points. Still in the document, she mentioned that Lindemberg did not obtain the minimum score in one of the areas of knowledge and, "therefore, did not obtain the desired approval." Still in the process, the Public Ministry of São Paulo (MP-SP) even took a position against the defense's request, claiming that a recommendation from the National Council of Justice (CNJ) requires, "for the recognition of the intended redemption, that the re-educated person obtains approval in the aforementioned exams, satisfying a minimum score for that purpose". In the document, the MP explained that, for Lindemberg to have his sentence reduced, he needed to reach a minimum of 450 points in each of the areas of knowledge, in addition to 500 points in writing. The document attached by the defense, however, showed that Lindemberg scored 361.6 points in 'Mathematics and its Technologies'. Previous reductions In total, Lindemberg has already managed to reduce 887 days from the expected sentence. According to the latest sentence calculation, to which g1 had access, 465 days were redeemed for work in prison, between January 2009 and February 2015, in addition to 313 days, also for work, between November 2015 and February 2020. The most recent of the reductions was authorized by the Court in March last year. Unlike the new request, the Public Ministry had expressed its favor to the request. The reduction of 109 days was related to the work carried out by Lindemberg in prison between 2021 and 2024, in addition to taking an entrepreneurship course. ? Penalty reduction is provided for by law. According to the Penal Execution Law, each prisoner has the right to redeem 1 day of his sentence for every 3 days worked. Lindemberg Alves, during sentencing globonews Eloá Case The crime took place on October 13, 2008, in Santo André (SP). At the time, Lindemberg invaded the apartment where Eloá lived and held her, her friend Nayara Rodrigues and two other schoolmates of theirs hostage. Eloá spent five days in private prison, under threats from her boyfriend. The other hostages were released, but Nayara returned to the scene on police advice. On October 17, 2008, the police invaded the place after hearing a noise that sounded like a gunshot. Before the PM arrived, Lindemberg still managed to shoot Nayara (who survived) and shot Eloá twice, who died. Eloá Pimentel and Lindemberg Alves dated for just over 2 years. She was 15 and he was 22.
