The suspect, a 42-year-old man, is in pre-trial detention. When she was left on the bank, the elderly woman was gagged with a ribbon and had her hands and feet tied. The woman survived, was taken to the hospital and was released on Thursday (9). How did the kidnapping occur? According to the Civil Police, the suspect and an elderly woman met at a dance hall in São José, in Greater Florianópolis, on Monday (6) - the day before the crime. "He arranged a meeting with her the following day, and then committed the crime", said police chief Murilo Batalha. During the kidnapping, on Tuesday (7), the man placed the elderly woman in the trunk of her car. The woman was taken to Biguaçu and then left on the bank between Blumenau and Gaspar, around 100 kilometers from the first city. Where was the suspect found? The suspect was found in Joinville, a city about 90 kilometers north of Blumenau, at around 2pm on Wednesday (8). Initially, he tried to escape, according to the MPSC. When caught, he confessed to the crime and told the police where he had left the victim. With this information, the agents went to Vale do Itajaí and searched for four hours until they found the elderly woman. She has comorbidities and was found "extremely weakened", according to police.
