The 78-year-old artist from Maranhão participated in the event's June program and continued the performance normally after the incident. Images recorded during the show show the moment the singer loses her balance and falls onto the stage. Quickly, members of Alcione's team helped the artist to her feet. Then she sits down on a chair. According to a journalism team from TV Mirante, which covered the event, the presentation was not interrupted and the show continued. At the time of the fall, Alcione received on stage the singers Ribinha de Maracanã, from Boi de Maracanã; Chagas, from Boi de Ribamar; and Marcos, from Boi da Maioba, from the bumba meu boi groups with the matraca accent. Together, they performed the song “Maranhão, Meu Tesouro, Meu Torrão”, one of the most emblematic songs of Maranhão popular culture, immortalized in the singer’s voice. Monday (6) Ore train derails in MA and Vale suspends passenger train on the Carajás Railway Reproduction/TV Mirante An ore train on the Carajás Railway derailed at around 2am on Sunday morning (5), between the municipalities of Igarapé do Meio and Vitória do Mearim, in the interior of Maranhão. The train had left Parauapebas (PA) and was heading towards São Luís. Because of the derailment, Vale suspended passenger train circulation on Sunday (5), on the stretch between Parauapebas (PA) and São Luís (MA). This Monday (6), the trip in the opposite direction, from São Luís to Parauapebas, was also cancelled. With the derailment, several cars became detached from the train and fell onto the tracks. In a note, the company informed that the suspension occurred for “operational reasons”. Passengers with travel scheduled for these dates can rebook their tickets or request a full refund, free of charge, within 30 days. Two men are injured after a shooting attack in a bar in Imperatriz, MA Two men were seriously injured after being shot on Sunday night (5), in a bar in the Parque Alvorada neighborhood, in Imperatriz, in the Tocantina region of Maranhão. The crime took place around 9pm, while the victims were watching the Brazilian team play in the World Cup. The action was recorded by a security camera (see above). The images show the moment when the suspects pass by the place and shoot at people who were in the bar. According to preliminary information, several people were gathered at the establishment when they were surprised by the duo on a motorcycle. They passed by the place and were already firing shots. Two men were hit by gunfire and rescued in serious condition. One of the victims was shot in the mouth and back. The other was hit in the neck. Their health status was not reported. The case was attended to by the Military Police of Imperatriz, which began searching for criminals in the region. The investigation must be conducted by the Civil Police of Maranhão. Tuesday (7) Driver dies in head-on collision between car and truck on BR-230, in MA Reproduction/TV Mirante The driver of a car, identified as Michel Platiny Lopes Alencar, aged 40, died in the early hours of Sunday (5), after the vehicle he was driving collided head-on with a truck on BR-230, in the stretch between Balsas and Riachão, in the south of Maranhão. He was heading from Balsas to Riachão. With the impact, Michel died on the spot. The truck was transporting wood chips, material made up of small crushed pieces of wood. After the crash, the vehicle overturned and ended up across the highway. Part of the load spilled onto the runway. The truck driver was not at the scene when crews arrived. According to information obtained by TV Mirante, he had left shortly after the accident. BR-230 was closed for more than five hours due to the accident. The blockage affected traffic on the stretch between Balsas and Riachão until the runway was released. After the crash, the truck remained on the side of the highway. On Monday (6), the vehicle was turned over and removed from the scene. The causes of the accident are investigated by the Federal Highway Police (PRF). According to the agency, BR-230 has recorded 42 accidents and 13 deaths since January. The corporation reported that most incidents happen in the urban perimeter, mainly on weekends. Four search and seizure warrants were carried out by the Federal Police in São Luís. Disclosure/Federal Police The Federal Police (PF) carried out, this Tuesday (7), in São Luís, an operation against a scheme suspected of defrauding the Defense Insurance in Maranhão. The estimated loss is around R$3.7 million. According to the investigation, a law firm and agents would be responsible for attracting beneficiaries en masse to simulate links with artisanal fishing and obtain Defense Insurance irregularly. Called Operation Fake Fisher, the action was conducted by the Social Security Task Force in Maranhão. The General Coordination of Social Security Intelligence (CGINP), linked to the Ministry of Social Security (MPS), also participated. According to the investigation, the case is an offshoot of Operation Fake ID, carried out in 2023. The new phase investigates signs of fraud in Defense Insurance requests, a benefit intended for professional artisanal fishermen during the peak season. According to the Federal Police, the scheme would involve a law firm and agents. They would be responsible for attracting beneficiaries in large numbers to simulate links with artisanal fishing. In total, 18 federal police officers carried out four search and seizure warrants at the homes and professional offices of those being investigated, in São Luís. Representatives of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) accompanied the searches. According to the General Coordination of Social Security Intelligence, the estimated loss corresponds to the granting of 552 benefits already identified. Those investigated may be held liable for major embezzlement against the National Social Security Institute (INSS), criminal association and falsification of public documents. Wednesday (8) Suspect of robbery followed by death of elderly man is arrested in Maranhão A man identified by the initials D.S.S., known as “Denilson da Aldeia”, was arrested on Tuesday (7), suspected of committing robbery (robbery followed by death) against an elderly man in the village of Aldeias, in the rural area of ??Araióses. The victim was José Alves dos Santos, known as “Zé Dezinha”. The crime took place on August 14, 2025. According to the Civil Police of Maranhão (PC-MA), the suspect knew that the elderly man lived alone and used to keep money at home. Police reported that he hid in a bathroom outside the property and waited for the victim to arrive to announce the robbery. According to police, the elderly man was attacked when he was surprised by the suspect. In testimony, the investigated confessed that he suffocated the victim with a piece of cloth. José Alves died at the scene. After the crime, the suspect fled. After opening the investigation, the Civil Police gathered evidence that pointed to the suspect as the perpetrator of the crime. Based on the information, the police requested his temporary arrest. The Court authorized the measure after a favorable opinion from the Public Ministry. After his arrest, the man was taken to the Araioses Civil Police Station and then sent to the Maranhão prison system, where he remains at the disposal of the Justice Department. Thursday (9) Duo steals employees and steals motorcycles from dealership in São Luís Two armed men stole two motorcycles from a dealership in the Anjo da Guarda neighborhood, in São Luís, on Wednesday (8). Security cameras recorded the moment when the suspects captured two employees in the store's service area and fled with the vehicles (watch above). The images show the men entering the store wearing helmets. They approach the employees, who raise their hands and don't react. During the robbery, the suspects keep their guns pointed at the victims. At another point, one of the robbers puts a gun to an employee's head and forces him to leave the place where he was. After circulating around the store, the two men took two motorcycles from the store and fled, each in a vehicle. According to preliminary information, the dealership's employees were already apprehensive because, around 20 days ago, another store in the same segment was also robbed in the region. The Civil Police are trying to locate the suspects and recover the vehicles. Doctor arrested on suspicion of raping teenager inside office in MA A doctor from the municipal health network was arrested on Wednesday morning (8) in Açailândia, in the Tocantina region of Maranhão, suspected of raping a 14-year-old teenager inside the office. The case happened on June 27, at a health center in the city. According to the Special Women's Police Station (DEM), the teenager said she was taken by her mother for an appointment. During the treatment, the doctor asked the mother to leave the room and locked the door. He then ordered the patient to take off her clothes and had sexual intercourse with her. The mother, suspicious of the delay, asked the doctor to open the door. It took him about five minutes to fulfill the order. Soon after, mother and daughter went to the police station and registered the incident. The Civil Police opened an investigation and requested the temporary arrest of the suspect for the crime of rape of a vulnerable person. The request was accepted by the Court, with a favorable opinion from the Public Ministry of Maranhão. The order was carried out by the Civil Police of Maranhão (PC-MA) during Operation Safe Woman, which aims to strengthen measures to prevent, repress and combat domestic and family violence against women throughout the state. After complying with the court order, the suspect was subjected to legal procedures and placed at the disposal of the Judiciary. Investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the facts. The person being investigated works in the municipal health network in the municipalities of Açailândia, Itinga do Maranhão and cities in the region. In a statement, Açailândia City Hall informed that it is monitoring the process and collaborating with the police. He also said that he repudiates any violation of women's rights. The City of Itinga do Maranhão, where the doctor also worked, did not comment. Friday (10) Alberto Luiz Freitas Monção, aged 49, was arrested Reproduction/TV Mirante The former deputy director of a municipal daycare center in Timon, Alberto Luiz Freitas Monção, aged 49, was considered a fugitive from the Maranhão Court after breaking the electronic ankle bracelet he was wearing. He is being investigated for rape of vulnerable children aged 2 to 3 who were studying at the daycare center. According to the Maranhão Civil Police, he broke his ankle bracelet on Sunday (5) and abandoned the equipment at the Timon bus terminal. To date, he has not been located by the police. The Court had revoked his arrest after understanding that the Public Prosecutor's Office did not present the complaint within the legal deadline and agreed to an extension considered incompatible with the deadlines set out in the Code of Criminal Procedure. According to judge Rogério Monteles, from the 1st Criminal Court of Timon, the delay in presenting the complaint removed the justification for maintaining preventive detention. He highlighted that the deadline requested by the police and accepted by the Public Prosecutor's Office exceeded the limits established by procedural legislation. He had initially been arrested on May 27, suspected of raping a three-year-old child who is a student at the daycare center where he was deputy director. Church of São Benedito is invaded and set on fire in Icatu; tabernacle was violated Reproduction/TV Mirante The Church of São Benedito, in Icatu, in the Munim region, was invaded and set on fire at around 11:30 am last Wednesday (8). During the action, the tabernacle was also violated. Images taken after the attack show part of the interior of the church hit by fire. Walls and objects were burned, and the roof of the property was also damaged. The Maranhão Civil Police is investigating the case. After receiving the complaint, the Icatu Police Station began searches to identify those responsible and clarify the motivation for the crime. To date, no suspects have been identified or arrested. Witnesses are being interviewed, and information is being gathered to help with the investigation. Investigators also collect images from security cameras installed near the church. The material will be analyzed in an attempt to identify the perpetrators of the invasion. Saturday (11) Pregnant woman and her son are found charred after a shooting attack and fire at home in MA A three-month pregnant woman and her 4-year-old son were found dead and charred inside a burned-out house, this Friday (10), in the rural area of ??São João Batista, in the interior of Maranhão. According to police, armed men invaded the property, shot and then set fire to the place. The victims were identified as Samira Costa Correia and Yan Kaleb Costa Santos. According to witnesses, approximately 15 armed men broke into three of the family's properties. Only one of them, where Samira and Yan were, was occupied. According to the Maranhão Military Police (PMMA), professionals from the Municipal Hospital contacted the corporation after being informed by residents about the fire. The cause of deaths has not yet been determined. Expert examinations must indicate whether the victims died as a result of the shooting or the fire. Police found around 100 cases of previously fired ammunition at the scene. According to the PM, there were materials of 9 mm, .38, .40 and 12 calibers. Investigation According to witnesses, the criminals fired several shots inside the house, took televisions and other objects and then set the property on fire. The group fled on foot. Upon arriving at the scene, the police found the charred bodies of Samira and Yan inside the residence. According to family members, Josef Abreu Santos, Samira's partner and Yan's father, was seen in the house shortly before the attack. Until the last update of this report, he had not been located.
