Cyclist going the wrong way dies after being hit by two cars on the Campinas-Monte Mor Highway Reproduction/EPTV A cyclist died after being hit by two vehicles this Friday morning (17), on the Campinas-Monte Mor Highway (SP-101), in Campinas (SP). The accident occurred at km 5. According to the Transport Agency of the State of São Paulo (Artesp) and the Military Police, the victim was traveling the wrong way in the deceleration lane. The collision occurred in two stages, after the driver of the first car tried to access the road: the vehicle, which was traveling along lane 2, did not have time to brake and collided with the bicycle; with the impact, the victim was thrown towards lane 1; a second car, which was traveling in the same direction, was also unable to divert in time and hit the cyclist. After the accident, the drivers of the two vehicles involved stopped on the side of the highway. Due to the incident, the eastbound deceleration lane had to be partially closed.
