Matteo Lima Albertino died hours after getting a place in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Personal archive and Disclosure The Chamber of Cubatão (SP) created a Special Commission of Inquiry (CEI) to investigate possible administrative, structural, operational or assistance failures that led to the death of two-year-old Matteo Lima Albertino. The announcement took place after an ordinary session on Tuesday (7), marked by protests from family members and residents. The child died on June 30, at the Municipal Hospital, after being treated and released three times without tests at the Municipal Emergency Room. The Legal Medical Institute (IML) pointed to sepsis, a widespread infection, as the cause of death. ?Click here to follow the g1 Santos channel on WhatsApp. The CEI will analyze the medical and hospital protocols, the actions of those responsible and other aspects to clarify the case. City Hall investigates The Municipal Health Department (SMS) reported that the investigation is conducted by audit doctors and nurses, who evaluate medical records and procedures. The ministry also opened the London Protocol, a method for detailed investigation of adverse events and deaths.

The reports were requested from the Children's Emergency Room and the hospital involved on July 1st, with a deadline of the 3rd. However, the agency explained that part of the documentation was delivered late, which ended up impacting the initial technical analysis schedule. As there are still pending issues on the part of the health units, the SMS highlighted that it sent a new letter. The document reinforces the charge for the information that is missing to continue and guarantee the completion of the medical evaluation of the care provided. Remember the case Matteo was taken to the emergency room four times between June 27th and 29th with fever, vomiting, diarrhea and an anal abscess. The mother reported that the boy stopped urinating after receiving too much serum. According to her, the doctors did not know the diagnosis and did not order initial imaging tests. A CT scan was only done on the fourth day. The family claims it took a long time to get an ICU bed, and the child was transferred in critical condition to the Municipal Hospital, where he died on the night of June 30th. The IML pointed to sepsis (generalized infection) as the preliminary cause of death.
