Campinas registers 2,200 electrified vehicles in five months of 2026 and leads in the interior of Brazil

Electric car João Pantoja/Rede Amazônica Campinas (SP) reinforced its position as the main market for electrified vehicles in the interior of Brazil. Data from the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE) shows that the city registered 2,234 registrations between January and May 2026, an average of 14.7 vehicles per day. The result represents a growth of 33.7% compared to the same period in 2025, when 1,671 units were recorded. Since the beginning of the ABVE historical series, in January 2022, Campinas has accumulated 12,171 registered electrified vehicles. The result places Campinas ahead of capitals such as Fortaleza (CE), with 11.7 thousand units, Florianópolis (SC), with 8.6 thousand, and Manaus (AM), with 8.3 thousand units. The numbers include all electrified technologies sold in Brazil, such as 100% electric vehicles (BEV), plug-in hybrids (PHEV), conventional hybrids (HEV), flex hybrids (HEV Flex) and micro-hybrids (MHEV).

Market gains pace Data shows strong expansion in the segment in recent years. In 2022, Campinas registered 667 registrations of electrified vehicles. The volume jumped to 2,042 in 2023, reached 3,502 in 2024 and reached 3,726 units in 2025. ? In the first five months of 2026 alone, the city has already reached around 60% of the entire volume recorded during last year. ? While in 2022 there were around 56 vehicles per month, in 2026 the indicator reached 447 units per month between January and May. ? The highest monthly volume in the historical series was recorded in April 2025, with 612 registrations. In 2026, the market maintained its strong pace, with 524 units in April and 553 in May, the second best result since the start of the survey. The municipality's performance also places it ahead of other cities in the Brazilian interior in the electrified segment, consolidating the region as one of the main expansion centers for this technology in the country. "It is important for Campinas to continue this cutting-edge work in increasing public infrastructure to further promote the use of more efficient cars, so that we continue to have this good traction, in this energy transition from traditional combustion vehicles to more efficient cars", highlighted Thiago Sugahara, director of ABVE.
