Technology accompanied by quality analyzes are pillars of the sewage treatment process in Piracicaba. Through a strictly biological method, with high operational and environmental efficiency, without the use of chemicals, more than 3 billion liters of sewage are treated monthly by Mirante, in the municipality. The result is the return of treated water to the environment within strict quality standards, complying with environmental legislation and contributing to the continuity of the water cycle. "The main technology used is the activated sludge process. In practice, the sewage is stored in large aeration tanks that receive a constant injection of air, rich in oxygen.
