Civil construction - Buildings in the Bessa neighborhood, in João Pessoa Krys Carneiro/G1 Paraíba recorded, in June 2026, the second highest average cost per square meter in the Northeast, according to data from the National Civil Construction Index (Sinapi), released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The state reached R$ 1914.28 per square meter, surpassing the other states in the region in the period, with the exception of Maranhão, whose square meter is worth R$ 1960.01. ? All states in the region also showed an increase. In regional terms, the Northeast region, with an increase in all states, and influenced by the readjustment observed in professional categories in Ceará and Pernambuco, had the highest regional variation in June, 1.45%. The other regions presented the following results: 0.58% (North), 1.33% (Southeast), 0.86% (South) and 0.91% (Central-West). Despite being one of the largest in the Northeast, Paraíba's cost still remains below the national average, which reached R$1,976.37 per square meter in June. In Brazil, the index rose 1.19% in the month and accumulated growth of 7.26% in the last 12 months. Labor force, also with the highest rate observed in the year, 1.55%, and several collective agreements signed, increased by 1.41 percentage points compared to May (0.14%), and 0.03 percentage points compared to June 2025 (1.52%).
