The Court also ordered the blocking of up to R$9 million in assets belonging to those being investigated on suspicion of fraud in tenders, embezzlement of public funds and "rachadinha". Among the targets of the operation is the president of the Legislative Assembly of Rondônia (Alero), state deputy Alex Redano (Republicans). The police searched the office and the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the House, as well as an apartment belonging to the parliamentarian, in Porto Velho, and his house, in Ariquemes. The names of the others investigated were not released by the PF. Operation Reduto carried out 19 search and seizure warrants, nine in Ariquemes (RO), eight in Porto Velho (RO) and two in Manaus (AM). In Ariquemes, the targets were city hall employees. In Porto Velho, the action targeted the Legislative Assembly of Rondônia (Alero), where federal police seized documents, media and other materials that will be analyzed during the investigations. According to the Federal Police, investigations began in 2024, after reports from the Financial Activities Control Council (Coaf) pointed to suspicious financial movements involving a company from Manaus that held public contracts in Rondônia. As investigations progressed, the PF identified movements in excess of R$9 million considered incompatible with the economic capacity declared by those investigated. According to the investigation, the group would act on two fronts. The first was responsible for rigging bids and directing public contracts in the municipality of Ariquemes. The second front investigated involved the diversion of public resources through the accounts of commissioned employees of the Legislative Assembly of Rondônia, in a practice classified by the Federal Police as "rachadinha", when an advisor returns part of the salary or the full amount to the political agent. In addition to the arrests and removals, the Court ordered the freezing of assets, financial assets and cryptoactives of those under investigation up to a total limit of R$9 million. During the operation, cash was also seized in Manaus. According to the PF, the measures taken at this stage of the operation aim to gather new elements and deepen the investigations. What those involved say In a statement, Ariquemes City Hall reported that it is collaborating with the authorities and delivering the documents and information requested during the investigation. The administration stated that, to date, there has been no finding of irregularity involving the city hall and that public services continue to operate normally. The Legislative Assembly of Rondônia (Alero) reported that it is monitoring the operation and is available to the authorities to provide clarifications. The House stated that it follows the principles of transparency and legality, and that the hiring processes have control and inspection mechanisms.
