On June 24th, the launch event of the "Collection of Inspiring Practices in Aging: contributions from the State of São Paulo" took place in São Paulo, at SESC Belenzinho. The work was developed by the Department of Social Development of the State of São Paulo, through the São Paulo Friendly of the Elderly Program, in partnership with the Economic Sciences course at Unesp – Araraquara campus – and the São Paulo State Research Support Foundation (Fapesp). Araraquara was selected with the Recanto Feliz reception service, a highly complex residence for the elderly. The publication brings the results of research carried out in the 26 Regional Divisions of Assistance and Social Development (DRADS), which included inspiring initiatives aimed at active and healthy aging in the areas of Social Assistance and Health. The selection evaluated aspects such as innovative character, implementation mechanisms, effectiveness for the elderly population and potential for replicability in other municipal contexts. On the occasion, Araraquara was represented by Eloisa Helena Baptista da Silva, social worker and head of the unit responsible for Recanto Feliz. During the event, conversations took place with managers from the municipalities selected for the collection. Eloisa participated in the debate in the category "Dependency and Personal and Social Risk: intermediary services, income transfer and strategies for safe and protected institutional care". For the manager, participating in the launch represents appreciation for the work carried out by the unit's team. "More than a publication, the collection gives visibility to initiatives that directly impact the quality of life of elderly people, strengthening the exchange of experiences and inspiring new actions" points out Eloisa. She also reinforces that the initiative was successful thanks to the work of several professionals from different areas of knowledge who work there. "The team helps ensure that this work is carried out in a very careful way, taking into account the specificities of aging", he adds. The expectation is that the collection will be made available to São Paulo municipalities as an instrument to support public management.
