UP makes official pre-candidacies for the government of Pará and the Senate Reproduction The Popular Unity Party (UP) made official, on Wednesday night (8), the pre-candidacies of Raquel Brício for the government of Pará and Gal Leite for the Federal Senate in the 2026 elections. The launch took place at 7pm, at the headquarters of UP Pará, located at Rua Curuçá, nº 297, in the Umarizal neighborhood, in Belém. ? The deadline for registering candidacies at the Electoral Court is August 15th. By that date, parties must formalize the names that will contest the election. She participated in the founding of the Olga Benario Women's Movement and has previously run for elected office: she was a candidate for state deputy in 2022 and for Mayor of Belém in 2024, both for UP. Currently, Raquel is the national leader of the Class Struggle Movement, works as a port guard and presides over the Port Workers Union of Pará and Amapá (Sindporto). Gal Leite was born in the Jurunas neighborhood, in Belém, and is active in the trade union movement. She worked as a social educator at the Papa João XXIII Foundation (Funpapa), where she retired in 2021. She is president of the Union of Social Assistance Workers of Belém (Sintsuas) and is also a member of the Class Struggle Movement (MLC).
