With financial difficulties, the board established an order to settle the debts. The planning foresees the priority payment of debts of lower value while the club seeks resources to settle the highest outstanding debts.
The initial priority will be the payment of disciplinary fines applied by FIFA for late payments related to the signing of midfielders Charles and José Martínez and loan fees for striker Talles Magno, the value of which is around 200 thousand dollars (just over R$ 1 million, at the current exchange rate). All these hires were made in 2024, under the administration of former president Augusto Melo.
UOL found that the Corinthians board is working with the expectation of receiving, in the coming weeks, the amounts relating to the beginning of the sponsorship contract with the Fatal Fans content platform. The agreement provides for the payment of R$22 million to the club by December 2027.
With the inflow of these resources, Corinthians intends to settle outstanding issues related to the fines imposed by FIFA. At the same time, the club will continue to operate in the market in search of revenue from player negotiations.
As UOL published on July 17th, Timão set the goal of raising at least R$150 million in athlete sales in this transfer window. The objective is to use part of this amount to balance finances and pay off short-term debts, including those that resulted in transfer bans.
SALES ARE PRIORITY
Corinthians' priority at this moment is to conclude negotiations that guarantee the entry of projected values before moving forward with any movement in the market. The board's strategy is to use the window initially to generate revenue.
Even if it makes signings, the club works on the premise of only making specific moves. The idea is to seek cost-free operations, such as fee-free loans, free players on the market or possible exchanges of athletes.
