The work of art seen above is by the visual artist Wagner Lacerda and is part of the exhibition “Queen Bee – Life, music, love and poetry”, created by photographer and curator Mário Edson to celebrate Maria Bethânia's 80th birthday, celebrated by the artist on June 18th. With works by 25 visual artists, most from Bahia, the exhibition is scheduled to open on July 22nd with a vernissage at the Me Ateliê da Fotografia art gallery, in Santo Antônio Além do Carmo, a neighborhood in the city of Salvador (BA). In the exhibition, Bethânia's imposing image will be portrayed through photographs, drawings, paintings and even ceramics in works that express, through visual art, themes such as ancestry, spirituality and memory. Ana Kruschewsky, Bernardo Tochilowisky, Bianca Branco, Cláudio das Virgens, Franklin Jazz Viana, Izabel Andion, Jacy Gordinho, Juli Gomes, Juray Castro, Leo Furtado, Luiz Bhering, Marianna Pedreira, Mário Edson, Manuela Hereda, Neia de Taiobeiras, Pablo Araújo, Patricia Dieder Dalmas, Preta, Reinaldo Giarola, Rejane Alice, Roberto Faria, Rodrigo Nery, Rogério Silva, Suy Andrade and Wagner Lacerda are the 25 visual artists who will have their works exhibited in the “Queen Bee – Life, music, love and poetry” exhibition. The intention was to translate into images the scenic presence of Bethânia and the principles of an artist who captures the public through the sung word and the word recited in the form of poetry in an artistic trajectory that has already exceeded six decades of performance in Brazilian music. After the opening vernissage, the exhibition “Queen Bee – Life, music, love and poetry” can be visited over two months, from July 24th to September 24th, from 4pm to 7pm, always from Friday to Sunday.
