Valdemar on Michelle running for Senate in DF: I think she will be a candidate and will come in 1st

The national president of the Liberal Party (PL), Valdemar Costa Neto, told CNN Brasil, this Saturday, 11, that he believes in confirming the candidacy of former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro for the Senate for the Federal District. The declaration comes after the development of conflicts with senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic.

According to the party leader, Michelle told him that she no longer wanted to be a candidate. “I said: ‘This is a huge loss for the party’”, declared Valdemar.

“You are elected senator, you stay for eight years, you will learn and you will have a good basis to move forward in politics, because you are new,” he said.

Valdemar added: "So, I think she will be a candidate and come first in Brasília. I have no doubt."

The PL president also stated that he believes that Michelle will take the stage alongside Flávio.

"I believe it. I always say the following: we can't fight among ourselves because, if we lose the election, Bolsonaro will be in prison for another ten years. We can't lose that, we can't lose her work or anyone else's," he declared.

Valdemar also recalled the discussion between Michelle and Flávio about the PL's support for Ciro Gomes' (PSDB) candidacy for the government of Ceará.

"Ciro even fights with his brother. He's like that. But it turns out he's the only citizen who can beat the PT in the state of Ceará. And our president there, André Fernandes, lost the election in Fortaleza by 10 thousand votes", he reported. “They have a lot of strength there.”

In a message released by the senator during a live broadcast, the former president defended that differences should be overcome and stated that he trusted Flávio Bolsonaro to run for President of the Republic.
