Bolsonaro's son could lose his place on the commission in Balneário Camboriú due to absences

CURITIBA, PR (FOLHAPRESS) - Balneário Camboriú (SC) councilor Jair Renan (PL), son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, may be forced to leave his seat on the Public Security Commission due to excessive unjustified absences. He has been a member of the group since the beginning of his term in the Chamber, in 2025.

The request for dismissal was made by councilor Eduardo Zanatta (PT), who heads the commission, in a letter sent on June 16 to the president of the Chamber, Marcos Kurtz (Podemos).

The Chamber's advisors informed Folha this Tuesday (7) that the presidency received the letter and is analyzing the request with the House's Legal Attorney's Office.

If Kurtz confirms the dismissal, the PL bench must nominate another councilor for the position.

The Chamber has 13 permanent committees in total and Jair Renan is only a member of Public Security, a topic that is usually explored by PL members in electoral campaigns.

In the letter, Zanatta highlighted an article in the Chamber's Internal Regulations that defines that "members of the Permanent Legislative Committees will be dismissed if they do not attend, without prior written justification, three consecutive meetings or five alternating meetings of the committee".

According to a survey by the PT member, of the 12 meetings held between January and June 2026, Jair Renan was only present in the first three and did not provide a justification for his absence in the other meetings of the collegiate, which is made up of three members.

The report sent a message to Jair Renan's advisor's cell phone and an email to the councilor's office on Tuesday afternoon, but had no response until the text was published.

Both Jair Renan and Zanatta are pre-candidates for federal deputy for Santa Catarina in the October elections.
