Representatives of the Brazilian Association of the Machinery and Equipment Industry (Abimaq) stated this Tuesday (21) that they are against the application, by Brazil, of tariff reciprocity on American products imported by Brazilian companies. Representatives from the machinery and equipment sector met with vice-president Geraldo Alckmin and ministers Márcio Elias Rosa (Development, Industry and Commerce) and Dario Durigan (Finance). The Ministry of Development, Industry and Commerce (MDIC) is holding a series of meetings with sectors affected by the tariff imposed by the Donald Trump government against Brazilian products. The objective is to find measures to reduce the effects of North American taxation on the country's economy. After the meeting, representatives from Abimaq defended the expansion of the Brasil Soberano program, which provides credit lines with better conditions for sectors affected by the tariff. They also called for the adoption of measures to increase the competitiveness of the national industry.
