SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - The federal government's Gás do Povo program, which offers free gas cylinder refills to low-income families, today reached 100% coverage of families entitled to the benefit throughout Brazil.

The program created in September 2025 now serves more than 15 million families across the country. There are more than 26 thousand accredited resellers in 4,836 municipalities, which represents 86% of Brazilian cities, where around 15 million free recharges have already been made.

The service also reached the most isolated places in the country. In the 735 municipalities without accredited businesses, where around 365 thousand families live, the distributors will guarantee the delivery of the benefit through special logistics plans.

Women heads of families are the main beneficiaries of the initiative. Today, 14 million women who lead their homes receive the aid, which represents 93% of all homes served by the social program.

"It is not enough to create a social program, it is necessary to ensure that it reaches the last Brazilian who needs it. Today, with 100% coverage, we can say that no eligible family will be left out of Gás do Povo, in any corner of the country", says Alexandre Silveira, Minister of Mines and Energy.
