Parkinson's is a progressive neurological disease that mainly affects movement, causing symptoms such as tremors, stiffness, slowness and imbalance. The condition arises due to the loss of dopamine-producing neurons in the brain, and although it is often associated with old age, it can also develop earlier in life.

Despite affecting so many people, Parkinson's disease is very little represented on screen, leading to a lack of public understanding about the condition and its diverse experiences.

Fortunately, though, some movies and TV shows accurately portray what it's like to live with the disease. Click to find out more.
