There are about two months left until the end of the soybean vacuum in part of Brazil. As the start of sowing for the 2026/27 harvest approaches, producers are already monitoring climate forecasts to plan planting. According to Canal Rural meteorologist Arthur Müller, the scenario will be quite different between the main producing regions.

Between the 18th and 22nd of July, the forecast is for high volumes of rain in the south of the country. Accumulations can reach 250 to 300 mm in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and the Center-South of Paraná.

Meanwhile, until the end of winter, Central Brazil should continue to experience dry weather, a pattern expected for the period of sanitary emptiness.

September 2026

In September, when soybean planting begins in several regions, rain should favor the beginning of sowing in São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul, allowing producers to carry out work within the window considered ideal.

On the other hand, the situation tends to be less favorable in Mato Grosso, Goiás, Minas Gerais and the Matopiba region. In these areas, the forecast is for irregular and low rainfall, in addition to heat waves, which could cause delays in planting.

The scenario is also worrying for October. The expectation is that the rains will continue to be concentrated in the state of São Paulo and the South, especially Paraná and Santa Catarina. On the other hand, volumes should remain below average in Mato Grosso and a large part of Matopiba.

In addition to the lack of rain, the heat should attract attention in Central Brazil. The forecast indicates that September and the beginning of October will have very high temperatures, with maximum temperatures that could exceed 40°C, increasing concern about the pace of planting and the initial establishment of soybean crops.
