Floor collapse interrupts 15th birthday party in Belém The teenager who had her 15th birthday party interrupted after the floor of an event house collapsed in Belém had a celebration the following night, on the street where she lives. Despite being shaken, neighbors, family and friends of young Ana Beatriz decided to get together to celebrate and, this time, they sang happy birthday, moving the birthday girl (see below). The collapse at the birthday party occurred in the early hours of Sunday (5) at the time of the tributes. There were around 230 guests at the party, including all of the family's neighbors. At least 11 people were injured and needed to be rescued. Some of them had fractures and dislocations. The birthday girl was not injured. "It was like a lid, then it collapsed and we fell down there, a lot of people fell. When I got up, my foot was bleeding a lot. It was a moment that will be remembered, I tried to sleep and I saw it in my mind", recalls Marilia Ferreira, one of the guests who was injured. On Sunday night (6), the debutante's family and neighbors decided to improvise and throw a new party for the birthday girl, this time complete with congratulations, postponed the night before. The moment was recorded on video by the community (see below). In the images, the group celebrates the arrival of the honoree, with screams and applause as the teenager approaches, excited. The moment she saw the injured guests, the woman passed out in shock and also needed medical attention. The establishment where the floor fell operates in a historic house on Rua Siqueira Mendes, close to Casa das Onze Janelas and Complexo Feliz Lusitânia. In addition to the façade on land, the rear part of the property is built on stilts, facing the bay. The family demands that the establishment bear the costs of the party, of almost R$40,000, and also provide support to the injured, which was not being done, according to family members. The establishment reported that it is trying to contact the family and guests and that it is working with the authorities to determine the causes of the accident. Belém City Hall reported that it is monitoring the case and providing assistance to the victims while awaiting the technical assessment of the structure, which is closed. When questioned, the Civil Police reported that the case had not been registered. Also contacted, firefighters and the state Civil Defense did not respond until the last update of this report.
