The works were selected by invited experts for each category, including Maria Esther Maciel, Itamar Vieira Junior, Miriam Alves, Dau Bastos, Cida Pedrosa and Edimilson de Almeida Pereira. The Sesc Literature Prize aims to encourage new talents and is aimed exclusively at authors who have never had books published in the category in which they are competing. In addition to having their books published by Editora Senac Rio, the winners receive a cash prize worth R$30,000. ??Works Geography of discomfort In “Geography of discomfort”, the poems have blood, asphalt and the mirror as their guiding thread. The author Guilherme de Miranda Ramos, 54 years old, addresses, in three parts, themes such as affective relationships, the invisibility of people in cities, loneliness and mental health. "For this book I left my comfort zone and experimented with formats that I didn't have the courage to use before. I'm looking forward to meeting other writers, exchanging experiences with these people and being a source of inspiration so that they don't give up on their dreams, just as I didn't give up on mine", said Guilherme. The replication of blood In the work, the doctor in Literature Anacã Agra brings together short stories marked by human tragedies, with common characters in extreme situations. Among the themes covered are violence, guilt, desires and the ironies of destiny. "A week before receiving the news of the award, I thought about giving up publishing. I've been producing for over 30 years and I still hadn't gotten a 'yes'. Now I'm not giving up anymore. Some of the stories come from my own experiences or those of people close to me, while others were born from news, films and other references", explained the writer. The will of dead things The novel by writer Mariana do Nascimento Ramos tells the story of Bruna, a Literature teacher from a small country town who tries to rebuild her own life after surviving a school massacre. The book was inspired by the case of Suzano, which happened in 2019, in São Paulo. On that occasion, a teenager and a man invaded the Raul Brasil State School and killed students and staff at the unit. "I tried to speak with lyricism and tenderness, treating violence in a silent way that permeates relationships and things. I'm eager to see what the public's perception of the story will be," said Mariana.
