Real Madrid agrees record signing of Yan Diomande for €135 million

The operation could reach €135 million, around R$860 million at the current price. The Spanish club will pay €125 million in a fixed amount, in addition to another €10 million conditional on meeting targets. Diomande must sign a contract by June 2031.

Yan Diomande will be Real Madrid's most expensive signing

If all bonuses are achieved, Diomande will become the most expensive signing in Real Madrid's history. The deal will exceed the total amount invested in Jude Bellingham, signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2023.

The operation will also place the young man as the most expensive African player in the history of football. Leganés, the club that brought him to Spanish football, will be entitled to a portion of the value as they hold 5% of a future sale.

Who is Yan Diomande?

Born in Côte d'Ivoire, Diomande is 19 years old and plays mainly on the wing. The striker can also play more centrally and has gained space in the European market due to his speed, dribbling and ability to attack spaces.

The player began his career at AS Frenzi, in the United States, before moving to Leganés. His professional debut took place at the Santiago Bernabéu, in March 2025, during a match against Real Madrid.

In July of that year, RB Leipzig paid €20 million to take him away from the Spanish team. In the 2025/26 season, Diomande scored 13 goals and provided nine assists in 36 matches for the German club.

Highlight in the 2026 World Cup valued the striker

Diomande definitely entered the radar of the biggest European clubs after his performances for Ivory Coast in the 2026 World Cup.

The striker's performance increased his market value and aroused the interest of teams such as Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool. The player, however, indicated his preference for a transfer to Real Madrid.

Negotiations lasted for several days. RB Leipzig even reinstated him in training while discussing fees with the Spanish club, but authorized his travel after the agreement.

Diomande will be José Mourinho's sixth reinforcement

The Ivorian will be Real Madrid's sixth reinforcement for the 2026/27 season. Before him, the club signed Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konaté and Carlos Espí.

The arrival responds to a request from José Mourinho, who returned to command the team and was looking for more speed, depth and options for the attacking sides.

With Diomande included, Real Madrid's investments in the window exceed €200 million. Part of the expenses were offset by the sales of players such as Jacobo Ortega, Gonzalo García, Víctor Valdepeñas, César Palacios, Mario Martín, Fran García and Nico Paz.

Hiring Diomande does not define the future of Vinícius Júnior

The arrival of the attacker does not necessarily mean the departure of Vinícius Júnior. Real Madrid is in negotiations to renew the Brazilian's contract, currently valid until June 2027.

Arsenal is monitoring the situation and evaluating a proposal if talks do not progress. Still, the Spanish club intends to keep Vinícius in the squad, and José Mourinho considers the striker one of the central pieces for the La Liga and Champions League dispute.

The latest meetings between the board and the Brazilian's representatives were considered positive, increasing expectations for renewal.
