The indigenous leader Raoni Metuktire, 93 years old, showed a slight worsening of his kidney function, according to a medical bulletin released by Hospital São Paulo, of the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp), at 5:30 pm this Saturday, 11.

Despite the change, Raoni remains conscious, responds to commands, is stable, breathes without the help of equipment and accepts oral nutrition. He continues to receive treatment for his kidney condition and cough with secretions.

The chief was admitted in serious condition on June 15, at Hospital e Maternidade Dois Pinheiros, in Sinop, Mato Grosso. After being stabilized and undergoing four days of treatment, he was transferred to São Paulo.

Raoni has been in the capital of São Paulo since June 19, when he arrived with a diagnosis of upper intestinal obstruction and aspiration pneumonia. The following day, he underwent surgery to unblock and maintain intestinal transit.

Since then, he has continued to be monitored at a unit at Hospital São Paulo focused on indigenous health.
