PT members who participated in the INSS CPMI believe that the choice of federal deputy Alfredo Gaspar (PL-AL) as candidate for vice president on Flávio Bolsonaro's ticket (PL-RJ) was a “shot in the foot” and reinforces the political isolation of the campaign.

Gaspar was the commission's rapporteur and presented an opinion that included Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha, son of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, among the requests for indictment. The report ended up rejected by CPMI.

PT criticizes Alfredo Gaspar's choice as vice-president

"It's a shot in the foot. They're going to try to bring up an issue for which they are responsible for all the robbery", said deputy Rogério Correia (PT-MG), who was part of the CPMI.

Correia accuses Gaspar of having led the work to reduce the space allocated to investigating irregularities that occurred during the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

During the commission, Gaspar declared that he was “very proudly right-wing”, but stated that he would act in a balanced manner in the report.

PT members point to isolation of Flávio Bolsonaro

Flávio tried to attract center and center-right parties to increase the time for electoral propaganda and the structure of the campaign. PP, União Brasil and Republicans, however, decided to maintain neutrality in the dispute.

The difficulty in forming a coalition led the senator to choose a member of the PL himself. The composition was interpreted by allies and opponents as a sign of the difficulties faced by the candidacy in building a broader alliance.

"It's isolation, for sure. And, within the isolation, they chose poorly", declared Rogério Correia.

Other PT members made similar assessments.

“It shows a lack of allies on that side”, stated Rubens Pereira Júnior (PT-MA), also a former member of CPMI.

"There is political isolation. The extreme right is isolated", said Jorge Solla (PT-BA).

Accusation against Gaspar should enter the campaign

PT parliamentarians also intend to explore an accusation of rape of a vulnerable person presented against Alfredo Gaspar, who denies the case.

In the final stretch of the CPMI, deputy Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ) called Gaspar a “rapist”. The PL parliamentarian reacted and later went to court against Lindbergh and senator Soraya Thronicke.

The two sent documents and recordings to the Federal Police that, according to them, would justify the investigation of an alleged crime that occurred around eight years ago, involving a 13-year-old teenager who had become pregnant.

The investigation has not yet been formally opened. The Federal Police requested authorization from the Federal Supreme Court, and Minister Gilmar Mendes awaits steps and an opinion from the Attorney General's Office before deciding whether to allow the investigation to be opened.

Alfredo Gaspar denies accusation

Gaspar claims that the complaint is false and maintains that the story released by parliamentarians refers to a cousin, Maurício César Brêda Filho.

According to the version presented by the deputy, the case mentioned would involve people different from those mentioned in the accusation brought to the Federal Police and would not constitute a crime.

Gaspar filed lawsuits against Lindbergh and Soraya after the statements. The case is being reported by Gilmar Mendes at the STF.

Boulos reacts to the announcement of the ticket

Shortly after Flávio announced Gaspar as a candidate for vice president, the minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Guilherme Boulos, commented on the case on social media.

“Flávio Bolsonaro just nominated a citizen who was accused of raping a vulnerable person as vice president,” he wrote in X. “They deserve each other.”

Flávio's campaign classified the accusation as frivolous, defended Gaspar and asked for the case to be closed.

PF requests investigation of Flávio’s deputy on suspicion of rape

Chosen to form the PL presidential ticket, Alfredo Gaspar denies the accusation of rape of a vulnerable person. The Federal Police asked the STF for authorization to open an investigation, but the case is still awaiting a decision from Minister Gilmar Mendes
