"What an honor and blessing it was to be able to share this moment with my closest family, who came directly from Brazil to be together. I grew up with their Catholic teachings, of faith, hope and prayer, transmitted by my parents, and today was a celebration of that", he wrote.

Catholic faith is part of Matthew McConaughey's trajectory

Matthew McConaughey has already spoken publicly about the importance of religion in his life. In an interview with the podcast “Making Space”, presented by Hoda Kotb, the actor said that he sought support in faith during difficult times and, later, also in periods of success.

"I leaned on her in difficult times. Later in life, I learned to lean on her in good times too," he said.

McConaughey also said that religion helped him better understand humility without abandoning confidence in himself.

“I needed faith to bring me humility at certain times and, little by little, even today, I am learning to have this humility without losing self-confidence”, he declared.

Family spends time in Italy

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves met in 2006 and tied the knot in 2012. The two are parents to Levi, Vida and Livingston.

The family is currently in Italy, where the actor is filming “Positano”, his next project for Netflix.
