"Imagine whoever has such a huge responsibility to produce in this way would commit an environmental crime? I don't believe so", he said, this Thursday (20), after a hearing at Aprosoja.
Wellington said that the “King of Pigs” is a national reference in pig production and spirulina production, an activity that, according to him, requires a high degree of environmental responsibility.
"Reinaldo is a large producer of animal protein, and is one of the references in Brazil in pork. It is also the largest producer in Latin America of spirulina, which is a product made from algae, which has to have very strong environmental care, carried out in conjunction with pig farming", he stated.
The candidate highlighted that the definition of a person's responsibility is up to the institutions responsible for the accusation and the Judiciary.
"The person who defines the innocence of each citizen is the one who accuses and the Court judges. I believe [in his innocence]", he stated.

Environmental action
Among Suinobrás' processes in the State is an action that investigates possible contamination of soil and water resources in the region of the Environmental Protection Area (APA) Nascentes do Rio Paraguai, in Alto Paraguai.
According to the elements presented in the process, effluents leaked from one of the lagoons of the pig farm's treatment system for 1,084 days, between March 2016 and March 2019.
There is also an action in which Suinobras is sued by Poli Nutri Alimentos for the payment of R$5 million, for allegedly failing to comply with an agreement to settle a debt.
