UFPA opens public consultation to define which university data will be open to the population; find out how to participate

UFPA Professional Campus Thiago Pelaes / UFPA The Federal University of Pará (UFPA) began a public consultation to define which information produced and stored by the institution should be prioritized for availability in an open format. Voting is aimed at the academic community and society in general, with a participation deadline open until August 25, 2026. The objective of the initiative is to collect suggestions that will support the preparation of UFPA's Open Data Plan (PDA) for the period from 2026 to 2028. The document serves as a guide for opening university databases, allowing any citizen to access, reuse and share information freely. LINK to the form How does the choice work? Participation is done via an electronic form. In it, participants can select up to ten databases that they consider to be a priority for public opening. According to UFPA, the choice must take into account factors such as: The public interest; The social relevance of information; The potential for using data to create new projects and research. What happens to suggestions? After the end of the voting period, society's contributions will be analyzed by UFPA's Permanent Open Data Commission (CPDA). The technical team will evaluate the suggestions based on criteria such as prior demands for access to information, compliance with legal requirements, alignment with the university's planning and the feasibility of using this data in innovation projects, scientific research and public interest solutions. Focus on transparency and the Amazon The public consultation is part of a policy to strengthen public transparency and bring the university and the population closer together. The opening of this information also aims to boost social control and the development of research aimed directly at the needs of the Amazonian reality. The action is aligned with the planning guidelines of Dean Gilmar Pereira da Silva's management. In February this year, the Dean of Institutional Planning and Development (Proplan) had already highlighted the commitment to efficiency and administrative transparency when publishing the Budget Management Plan (PGO) 2026. "Transparency is a permanent commitment of UFPA to society. By inviting the community to participate in defining the priorities of our Open Data Plan, we strengthen democratic management, expand access to information and create better conditions for UFPA data to be used in research, innovation initiatives and actions of public interest", highlighted rector Gilmar Pereira da Silva.
