For Marisa, the interest of the documentary lies precisely in showing a stage that is normally kept away from the public: the birth of a song. "The documentary allows us to see a rare thing: the genesis of a song. It's a place that almost no one sees. It's a place that is rarely recorded", he says.
The material gathered by Dora Jobim began to be produced for another purpose. The initial idea was to accompany the recording of an album, but the record ended up incorporating images taken at different moments in the trio's trajectory. Studios, photo shoots, trips, tours and meetings became part of the archive. The title 'O Baú da Hora Fértil' refers precisely to this set of records.
Marisa describes the creation of Tribalistas as a process that mixes spontaneity and method. "Collective, creative, spontaneous, chaotic, affective, relaxed and fun. But, at the same time, rigorous", he summarizes. Carlinhos Brown relates work to the freedom provided by joint creation. "We are on board with a creative feeling that, naturally, imposes a smile. Poetry frees the person", he states.
In their conversation with Pedro Bial, the trio also recalls the origins of songs such as 'Velha Infância' and 'Já Sei Namorar', in addition to the meetings that shaped the partnership that began more than 20 years ago.
