The accident occurred at km 91 of BR-040, which connects Brasília to Rio de Janeiro, passing through Goiás and Minas Gerais.

The collective was from the company Estrela Guia Turismo, according to the PRF, and left Belo Horizonte, heading to the Copacabana neighborhood, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. The highway was blocked in the early hours and morning of this Sunday and has now been reopened.
The incident will be forwarded to the 105th Police District, in Petrópolis, responsible for investigating the accident. According to Civil Police advice, the bodies of the nine fatal victims will be sent to the Regional Technical-Scientific Police Station of Petrópolis, where they will undergo forensic examinations. Other efforts are underway to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
ANTT (National Land Transport Agency) was questioned about the accident and the regularity of the company and the bus, but has not responded so far.
Company regrets the accident
In a statement, the company Estrela Guia expressed its deep regret over the accident and expressed solidarity with the victims, their families and everyone involved.
The company stated that it fully cooperates with the authorities responsible for the investigation and is adopting all necessary measures to provide assistance to the victims and their families.
"At this time of deep consternation, we ask for respect for the privacy of the families and people affected," he said.
The company said it is awaiting the conclusion of the investigations so that the circumstances of the accident can be properly clarified. Estrela Guia said it is collecting information about the bus passengers.
