Market leader in the region, with a solid trajectory that already has more than 56 thousand beneficiaries and the generation of more than 1,000 direct jobs, Unimed Campos officially celebrates its 35 years of consolidated foundation as the main supplementary health force in the North of Fluminense. In celebration of this historic milestone, the cooperative brought together hundreds of cooperating doctors, collaborators, family members and athletes in a 5 km and 10 km race, on the campus of the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense (UENF). Cooperative celebrated its 35th anniversary with a race open to the public Disclosure The event, which was completely sold out, combined the institutional celebration with stimulating quality of life and integration with the local community. The initiative sought to raise awareness among the population about the importance of physical activity in combating a sedentary lifestyle. More than a sporting celebration, the 35th anniversary crowns a trajectory of significant expansion of assistance and economic consolidation in the region. Founded in 1991 by the desire of local professionals to establish a fair alternative to the group medicine model of the time, Unimed Campos was born under the leadership of doctors Makhoul Moussalem and Luiz Carlos Sell. What began with a pioneering union of just 20 independent doctors has today transformed into a robust structure that has more than 500 cooperating doctors. "The cooperative is a society of people, not capital. We come together as professionals with the same objectives, we add to multiply. The system values ??work itself and not profit for profit's sake, allowing the results to be directly reverted into structural improvements for the community and for the doctors themselves” — Dr. Leonardo Ferraz, president of the Board of Directors of Unimed Campos. Currently, Unimed Campos' own network includes Hospital Unimed Campos, currently the only hospital in the North Fluminense region with Accreditation of Excellence (ONA 3), in addition to the Diagnostic, Oncology Center, laboratories and specialty centers in the Center and Baixada Campista, in Goitacazes. The operation also extends to Porto do Açu and has Viver Bem, Viver Bem - Cardiologia and Crescer Bem spaces. Unimed Campos Hospital has ONA 3 accreditation of excellence, the only one in the North Fluminense region to have the seal. As part of the commemorative milestones and the investment plan for the coming years, the board is planning new expansion fronts. Unimed Campos plans to open a service center in Grussaí, in addition to installing another laboratory unit in the Guarus region and also in the municipality of São Fidélis. Investments are also planned for the acquisition of hemodynamic equipment, making it possible to carry out highly complex cardiac surgeries in the cooperative hospital unit itself. Unimed Campos plans expansion to the cities in the coverage area Disclosure Based on the precepts of classic cooperativism, Unimed Campos reaffirms its leadership by reversing economic development into sustainability and cutting-edge assistance for the population of North Fluminense.
