He said he was coming in a convoy of cars, which stopped on the side of the highway. The train was coming from the city of Pernambuco for a religious event in Campina Grande. He recalls that when his car and two others stopped, there was a very loud noise, and, subsequently, "a runaway trailer" hit his car and also another vehicle, which according to him "was a total loss". "We were thrown, the trailer ended up sliding, out of control, hitting our car, throwing us off the cliff. Our car was badly damaged, the pastor's car that was next to us was a total loss. Unfortunately, the greatest pain is for these people, our dear brothers, who we still don't know how to digest this loss", he said. The causes of the accident are not yet known. Images posted on social media show that a trailer with ore fell over the cars containing the victims. The Federal Highway Police (PRF) was called to the scene. "And it was very quick, we really can't measure it. I'm still trying to understand the dynamics of the accident, but unfortunately it was something very quick, very sudden and unfortunately we lost three of our dear brothers", said the pastor. Six people were injured in the accident, two of them have already been discharged, but their health status was not detailed by the health unit that received the victims. Understand more below. Pastor talks about accident dynamics Another pastor from the same church as the victims, Paulo César Soares, told TV Paraíba how the accident had happened. According to him, pastor Sérgio Brito, who was in a green car, stopped the vehicle so that his grandson could relieve himself of physiological needs. Then, according to the report, another pastor, identified as Adriano, who was driving a white passenger car, parked right behind. Also according to the pastor, Gean Santos, who died in the accident, who was traveling in a silver car, tried to park in front of the other two vehicles. That's when the collision would have happened. "The information was that, instead of him stopping behind the white car, he went parallel to the white car, went parallel to the green one to park in front of the green one. Then the trailer was coming in the opposite direction. The driver probably got scared, lost direction, couldn't control the trailer and collided head-on with Pastor Gean", he reported. Who were the victims The pastor and two members of an evangelical church were traveling in a caravan that left Petrolina, in the interior of Pernambuco, to Campina Grande, in the Agreste of Paraíba, where they would participate in a religious event. Gean Santos was pastor of the Verbo da Vida Church, in the city of Queimada Nova, Piauí. The two women, Ruth Gomes and Alba Simões, were members of the church of the same denomination, in Petrolina, in the Sertão of Pernambuco. To g1, Igreja Verbo da Vida reported that Ruth Gomes was a member of the board of directors of the Petrolina congregation and vice-president of the NGO Movimento, an association that develops projects for and empowers people. In a statement, the church lamented the death of the three members and reiterated that the other occupants of the vehicles involved were rescued alive.

The survivors The Campina Grande Emergency and Trauma Hospital reported that six patients who were victims of the accident, three men and three women aged between 35 and 55, were admitted to the unit. All of them are undergoing medical procedures and their health status was not disclosed in detail until the last update of this report. Two of the six victims of the accident, pastor Sérgio Brito and his wife, aged 55 and 54, respectively, have already been discharged from the hospital.
