Novo Airão hosts 1st indigenous festival with games, music and rituals; event brings together 24 people from Lower Rio Negro

"More than a celebration, FestYãdepá represents a historic meeting in the territory, bringing together chiefs, leaders and different indigenous communities. It is the first event of this format in the place that was created with the purpose of being a permanent space for the appreciation and strengthening of our cultures. The name itself translates this spirit: 'Yãdepá', in Nheengatu, means 'all of us' and symbolizes union, collectivity, ancestry and the strengthening of indigenous cultures", he explains. Programming The Tauapessassu Arts Fair will be held on both days of the festival, with exhibition and sale of indigenous products. On Saturday (8), the program includes the Igapó Cineclube, the official opening ceremony, with a ritual led by Dona Neuza Tukano, greetings from indigenous leaders and the Indigenous Knowledge Challenge. The activity will include tests such as cassava grating, white straw braiding and quinhapira competition. At night, Eric Max presents the show "Rio Negro" for the first time, accompanied by DJ Ravi Veiga (Mura). There will also be performances by dancers Marilson Freire (Karapaño) and R. Bezerra (Baré), the cultural group Peixe-Boi Anavilhanas and the group WOTCHIMAÜCÜ.
