Vaccine is available in all rooms in the municipality José Fernando Ogura/SECOM The Municipal Health Department of Montes Claros issued an alert following the increase in cases of Influenza A and B in the municipality. According to the city hall, the records are mainly concentrated in the age groups of 10 to 19 years old (21.4%) and 20 to 39 years old (20%), indicating widespread circulation of the virus. "Yesterday [Tuesday], we monitored the municipality's laboratory surveillance and identified an increase in the number of diagnosed cases of Influenza A and B. The data shows a change in our scenario, because in previous monitoring we observed a predominance of respiratory syncytial virus and rhinovirus. Now, we are identifying the circulation of Influenza A and B viruses, a viral disease that can be prevented through vaccination", stated Priscilla Pimenta, coordinator of the Health Surveillance, in an interview with Inter TV. ?Click here to follow the g1 Grande Minas channel on WhatsApp The coordinator also warned about the low vaccination coverage of the priority public, which is currently at 54%. The group includes children, pregnant women and the elderly. "We need to expand this coverage even further. The vaccine is available in all of our 43 vaccination rooms, in the two vaccination centers and during extended hours at Montes Claros Shopping, so that the population can be immunized. The vaccine is available to everyone from six months of age. It is important that the population seeks the vaccine to protect themselves and also to protect the most vulnerable groups, such as children, pregnant women and the elderly", he highlighted.

According to the coordinator, to date, 421 hospitalizations due to Respiratory Syndrome have been recorded in the municipality and one death has been confirmed this year. On Tuesday alone (14), 23 new hospitalizations were recorded. "Of these 23 hospitalizations, 21 are children. This gives us a very big warning that we need to expand vaccination coverage." The city advises that people with symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, body aches or difficulty breathing should immediately seek the nearest health unit, especially children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with comorbidities.
