A large tree that was located inside the Escola Estadual Professora Maria Alice Colevati Rodrigues, in Campinas (SP), fell on Wednesday night (5) and blocked Avenida Independência, in Jardim América. No one was injured, but the branches damaged the unit's wall and hit a power pole. According to the Department of Education (Seduc), there was no damage to the school structure and classes were not interrupted. In a statement, Companhia Paulista de Força e Luz (CPFL) reported that the incident caused a power outage only at the school, but the service was restored during the night. The Campinas Municipal Development Company (Emdec) removed the tree. However, the right lane of the avenue remained closed due to the damaged pole. "We asked for the one from the school and we asked for the one on the sidewalk, because this tree here on the sidewalk also has a branch that is going to fall. It is completely dry, it even has fungus. We have already filed a complaint with 156, we redid it with 156 and we did it here at the sub-prefecture", said Julieta de Mendonça Oliveira.
