Vaccination against Influenza continues to be prioritized for the most vulnerable groups in Paraná, but has been expanded to the entire population since June 29, depending on the availability of doses in the municipalities. The definition was approved by the Bipartite Inter-Management Commission of Paraná (CIB/PR), through Deliberation No. 273/2026. The measure takes into account the State's current epidemiological scenario, which records an increase in cases and deaths related to Influenza and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), especially among children and the elderly. Furthermore, vaccination coverage of priority groups remains below the target set by health authorities. According to data from the State Department of Health, the target population of the 28th National Influenza Vaccination Campaign in Paraná is 4,815,445 people. As of June 18, 2,248,816 doses of the vaccine had been administered – or 46.7% of the target. The numbers reinforce the importance of immunization. Until Epidemiological Week 23 of 2026, Paraná recorded 1,635 cases and 100 deaths from SARS caused by Influenza. Among confirmed cases, 26.9% occurred in children under six years of age and 36.4% in people over 60 years of age. Regarding deaths, 79% were recorded among elderly people. Priority groups Given this scenario, the State Department of Health's guidance is that municipalities maintain vaccination strategies aimed at children, pregnant women, the elderly and other priority groups, as well as the continuity of vaccination actions in school environments, even when the campaign is opened to the general population. The Municipal Health Department of Araucária reinforces the importance of priority groups seeking vaccination as soon as possible, contributing to the reduction of serious cases, hospitalizations and deaths caused by the disease.
