Father caught kicking three-year-old daughter, in Paraná A father caught kicking his own three-year-old daughter, in Francisco Beltrão, in the southwest of Paraná, was arrested this Thursday (9). The Civil Police (PC-PR) has not yet released details of the arrest. The man is responsible for the crime of bodily harm and his name has not been officially released. ? At one point, he stops and kicks his daughter, who falls to the ground. Soon after, another man appears and opens his arms in an attempt to intervene, but is confronted by the children's father. The girl gets up and the three continue walking. The children's mother discovered what had happened after seeing the images on social media. She filed a police report on Tuesday (7). In testimony, the father said he kicked him because the child was crying. The man was sought by the Military Police (PM-PR) on the same date, but was not found. On Wednesday (8), he was interviewed by the Civil Police. RPC, a TV Globo affiliate in Paraná, found that he claimed, in his statement, to have kicked because the child was crying. Because there was no incident, the man was not arrested. According to delegate Anderson Andrei, the man appeared at the police station without a lawyer. In testimony, he cried and said he regretted what he did. In situations of bodily injury, the act is characterized when the crime is being committed or has just happened, therefore the possibility of arrest for being caught when the crime does not continue. The Civil Police requested urgent protective measures in favor of the girl, her brother and her mother. The Guardianship Council was also contacted and is monitoring the case. Violent practices A Datafolha survey, commissioned by the Maria Cecilia Souto Vidigal Foundation, interviewed 2,206 people across Brazil and identified the disciplinary strategies used by caregivers. According to the survey, 29% of those interviewed admitted to using violent practices, such as spanking and pinching children up to 3 years old. The survey also shows that 58% of those interviewed say they punish the child and 43% report shouting or fighting as a form of discipline.
