Driver sends audio asking for help and dies minutes later after having a heart attack while driving Trader Geraldo Machado Ferreira, aged 57, died of a heart attack on Saturday morning (4) while driving a car in Ponta Grossa, in Campos Gerais do Paraná. Minutes before, he sent an audio message to family members saying he wasn't feeling well. When he felt ill, he ended up crashing his car into the back of a pickup truck - but, according to the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), the cause of death was the heart attack itself. In Geraldo's car were two of his nephews, who were also uninjured. One is 1 year old and the other is 6. "According to the report from the truck driver, he noticed the impact on the rear of the vehicle and, upon checking the situation, found the driver of the other car showing signs of discomfort. Samu teams attended the scene and confirmed the death. Forensic examination was also called and, according to the preliminary medical assessment, the probable cause of death was a sudden illness, with no injuries compatible with the impact of the collision being found", explained the Military Police (PM). The accident happened around 11:20 am on the corner of General Rondon and Maurício de Nassau streets, in the Nova Russa neighborhood. Geraldo Machado Ferreira was born in Ivaí, a city about 90 km from Ponta Grossa, and was buried this Sunday (5) in his hometown.
