On August 29th and 30th, at 7pm, the Sesc Arena Theater hosts the show “Re Te Tei”, by Tropa do Balacobaco, from Pernambuco. The group is recognized for its work with mamulengo theater and for its appreciation of Brazilian popular culture. With free classification and free entry, the production brings together humor, music, poetry and characters inspired by the northeastern imagination, taking the public on a journey full of adventures, challenges and encounters with legendary figures from the backlands. A story inspired by popular myths and traditions The show follows the trajectory of Chico Catolé, a country boy known for the lies and confusion he causes wherever he goes. At a certain point, he comes across the feared Papa-Figo, one of the legends present in the popular imagination of the Pernambuco backlands. After losing a rhyme duel, Chico is transformed into the creature's apprentice and begins to face a series of challenges to try to reverse the curse. From this encounter, “re-te-tei” emerges, an element that drives the narrative and drives the search for the mysterious “disempafigador” remedy. During this journey, the character encounters different figures from northeastern folklore and oral tradition, in a story that values ??imagination and knowledge passed down from generation to generation.
