Although she stated that she would follow the party's guidance, she conditioned the request for votes on the outcome of political alliances.
"I've been waiting to see if there will be a merger with another party, what it will be like, before giving this ultimatum. What I need to know is what these negotiations, these coalitions will be like," he told the press.
"It's a party understanding. But so, will there be a coalition? Will the MDB be together? These are the questions I'm waiting for", he added.
Afterwards, when asked if she would walk with Wellington if the MDB joined the ticket, she replied: “I will have a lot of difficulty”.
The statement comes amid the resistance that Wellington's pre-candidacy faces within the PL itself. Behind the scenes, some of the party's leaders, including mayors and allies of former president Jair Bolsonaro, have demonstrated their distance from the senator's project for Palácio Paiaguás.
The mayor of Cuiabá, Abilio Brunini (PL) is one of those who has avoided supporting Wellington and, when talking about the 2026 campaign, said that he would prioritize the election of senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), Samantha herself and federal deputy José Medeiros (PL), without mentioning the name of the pre-candidate for the Government.
Despite the reservation, Samantha denied that there is a possibility of breaking with party guidance.
"There's no risk. If we have a party, we'll stick with the party. What's happening is an insistence on trying to polarize or saying that we're going to ask for a vote for one or the other," he stated.
"We are PL, we are right-wing and we will walk with the right. What I need to know is who the PL in Mato Grosso will walk with in order to have a clearer issue."
