The House is located at Rua das Dálias, nº 73, in Âncora. The unit will operate from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm, and is expected to provide around 300 services per day to residents aged 60 or over. The Secretary of Health and vice-mayor, Fábio Simões, highlighted the importance of the unit being located in one of the most populous neighborhoods of Rio das Ostras. "The mayor made a point of choosing the most populous neighborhood to establish this unit. Casa do Idoso represents the union of several departments to offer integrated care. It will be a space for care, health and many activities for you", he highlighted. The Secretary of Development and Social Assistance, Carlos Correia, recalled that the creation of the unit was an old desire of the Municipal Administration. "We are making a dream come true for our Municipality. Some time ago I shared this dream with the mayor, who told me that Ms. Márcia also had the same desire. What we are delivering today is social well-being. We are living in a historic and very important moment for the quality of life of our population", he said. DAY CENTER – The Day Center – Casa do Idoso is a unit designed to provide specialized care for elderly people. The service seeks to prevent social isolation, strengthen family and community ties and avoid situations of abandonment or institutional care. The reception space will primarily serve elderly people in situations of social vulnerability or who require continuous support in activities of daily living. In these cases, assistance will occur via referral from the Specialized Social Assistance Reference Center (CREAS), responsible for technical assessment and monitoring of families. ACTIVITIES – The Casa do Idoso will offer coexistence activities, conversation circles, workshops, body practices, cognitive and emotional stimulation actions, as well as initiatives aimed at strengthening autonomy and social, family and community coexistence. HEALTH – In the area of ??Health, elderly people will have access to medical consultations, nursing support, physiotherapy, health education actions and monitoring of chronic diseases. The unit will also offer mental and cognitive health care, with individual and group psychology consultations, memory workshops, cognitive games and neuropsychological stimulation activities, among others. Users will also have access to Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (PICS), with meditation, relaxation and music therapy sessions. CULTURE, SPORT AND WELL-BEING – Casa do Idoso will also feature cultural, sporting and leisure activities, such as choir, music, artistic performances and crafts, gastronomy and creative economy workshops, promoting integration, autonomy and quality of life for participants.
